On Saturday evening, Żurrieq welcome the Youth Team of Birkirkara to play a friendly match as part of our pre-season program.

Coach Vella's team had Nicosia (injured), Barbara and Mamo missing from the team sheet and skipper Darmanin return to action from the starting minutes.

The match kicked off at 17:00 as the Żurrieq took the command in the first minutes of the match. However despite their age Birkirkara Youth Team held our men from scoring the opening goal. During the late minutes of the match, Bouvet had a scoring opportunity where it was disallowed from the match official. The match ended goal less in the first half.

In the second half, Birkirkara Youths had the first scorning chances and open the score after a error the defensive line and from the (Trail) Goal Keeper. Żurrieq managed to level up the scoreline thanks to Chetcuti scored but few minutes later, Żurrieq conceded another goal to make 1-2.

Żurrieq push more in the last moments of the match in order to level up the score and had decent chances including a penalty which was not given. Birkirkara sealed the game after scoring the third and final goal to make it 1-3.

Not a decent performance from Vella's men as they now prepare for their final pre-season friendly match vs Gudja United.
